Zox at Shelter -St. Andrews Hall November 28

Zox returns to Detroit November 28 with a show at Shelter - St. Andrews Hall. Zox's latest CD The Wait has received universal acclaim for its innovative mix of musical influences and intelligent lyrics. Standout tracks include "Can't Look Down" and "Thirsty." The latter has an almost Police-like feel to it, while the former features a wild violin lead backed by a driving bass line.

Overall Zox mixes elements of new wave, reggae, ska, and punk to create an alternative sound that has garnered them a loyal following. The four piece has played over 400 shows over the last two years in support of their debut CD Take Me Home and now The Wait. Take a listen for yourself at Zox and sign up for their tour schedule. You don't want to miss this band when they come to your neck of the woods.

What You Missed

This Charming Band, Sunday August 13 at Boardners

If you know anything about The Smiths you’ll know from this band’s name that they’re a Smith Tribute band, and a very good one at that. Based out of San Francisco, this 5 piece plays nothing but Smiths and Morrisey covers. Orlandissy takes the helm as the Morrissey front man, sounding and moving just as Moz does.

They played an hour and a half set that covered everything from How Soon is Now to Boy With the Thorn in His Side. The newly remodeled Boardners outdoor stage was packed with fans of the Smiths, who knew every song, without a care that this wasn’t the real thing. These guys nailed it and had a good time doing it too. Next time This Charming Band is in your area go see them whether you're a Smiths fan or not.
